Hi, and welcome to the Hinton House Interiors blog, thanks for stopping by.

I'm Kerry, Owner and Lead Interior Designer of Hinton House Interiors.

I’m based in Southampton, Hampshire, where I live with my husband Aaron (a residential builder), our two children, and our crazy Maine Coon. We’re currently knee-deep in renovating what we’re calling our “long-term” home. I say that with a smile, because we love a project and have been known to take on more than a few in quick succession! But this one is different, we’re here to stay, restoring this house step by step and turning it into a warm, character-filled family home.

It’s definitely a long game, running two businesses with young children means it’s not always straightforward, but we love this house already and can’t wait to see it evolve into the home of our dreams.

I’m passionate about helping people transform their homes into spaces they love. My priority as a designer is to create interiors that truly work for you, blending style and function with a natural, timeless feel that enhances both the design and your well-being.

My style is often described as traditional and timeless, with a contemporary twist. I appreciate all design aesthetics and enjoy weaving them into my work when they feel right. While I take inspiration from trends, I don’t believe they should drive the design. For me, interiors should stand the test of time, it’s far more important that you love your home than that it’s “on-trend”.

After years of managing property renovations, I’m excited to share my knowledge here on the blog. My aim is to give you the tools, tips, and insights to get the very best out of your own home.

Alongside the blog, I also write a newsletter called Behind the Design. It’s where I share a more personal look at life as a designer, from the ups and downs of renovating our own home to insider tips, design inspiration and lessons learned from client projects. Think of it as a little peek behind the scenes: honest, practical and hopefully inspiring.
